This is my experience

I am Head of the Diabetic Foot Unit of the Abano Polyclinic (Abano Terme, Padua, Italy) and I have been in this position since the beginning of 2023. Since 2010 I have been part of the team taking care of patients in the ward, treating outpatients and performing surgery (wound treatment, limb salvage, reconstructive surgery, minor and major amputations). I have personally performed over 2,100 surgical interventions and more than 55,000 outpatient visits.

At Abano Polyclinic, and in other clinics, I also work privately, performing visits regarding diabetes, importantly for early detection of cardiovascular risk and complications, in particular regarding the diabetic foot, and endocrinology (thyroid pathologies, menstrual disorders, acne, obesity, hirsutism, polycystic ovary syndrome, osteoporosis, hyper-hypoparathyroidism, hyperprolactinemia, adrenal gland pathologies, secondary hypertension).

In March 2010 I was appointed as Speciality Doctor in the Diabetic Foot Unit of the Abano Polyclinic (Abano Terme, Padua, Italy) in the ward, the outpatient clinic and the operating theatre.

At the same time I started private practice in the Abano Polyclinic (Abano Terme, Padua, Italy) covering the Endocrinology, Diabetology and the Diabetic Foot.

I participated in a conferences on the diabetic foot and an update course in angiology for diabetologists.

I completed a three-year PhD in hypertension and prevention of cardiovascular risk discussing the thesis "arterial distensibility in patients with sleeping disorders".

Between 2006 and 2009 I worked as a specialist at the day clinic of endocrinology and diabetology of San Gerardo Hospital in Monza and I periodically substituted some of the GPs in the local area.

From 2000 to 2009, I cooperated in research run by laboratories directed by prof. Giuseppe Mancia at the Clinical Medical department of San Gerardo Hospital in Monza and at the University of Milano-Bicocca, participating in many clinical trials such as the ADVANCE study, clinical research on hypertension, heart failure, diabetes mellitus and conditions characterised by increased sympathetic nervous system activity.

• Trainer for a total of 7 days in the programme of the diabetological unit of San Gerardo Hospital in Monza and the University of Milan-Bicocca: the management of patients with type 2 diabetes by the GP (Monza 28 February-12 December 2009).
• I participated in five conferences regarding diabetes, the diabetic foot and the therapeutic success in the use of exenatide on glycaemia and the reduction of weight in type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled by oral antidiabetic drugs. In this last congress, held in Badesi in Sardinia (14-16 May 2009) I presented an oral abstract.
